Gold Fish features a highlight from a tiny metal stamp that I bought down an alleyway behind the Pompidou Centre in Paris. I had enjoyed hours of art at the Pompidou and then finding all these tiny metal stamped creations was an absolute joy… What is art?

This piece was first developed in 2005. At the time it was highlighting the object, then I added a tiny beating red LED to its interior. This was expressing a moment when I was 5 years old and my Grandfather Krause had scaled a fish and at the back door. I remember a pile of scales with a tiny heart beating underneath. At this moment, I felt the fragility of life and was very sad for the fish.
